Scrambled words are words with their letters mixed up. The goal is to rearrange the letters and find real English words.

This can be helpful for anagrams, spelling puzzles, vocabulary practice, crosswords, and word games.

What Are Scrambled Words?

A scrambled word is a word where the letters are out of order.

For example:

LISTEN can become SILENT
STONE can become TONES
EAST can become SEAT
CARE can become RACE

When the letters are mixed up, it can be hard to see the word right away. A word unscrambler helps you find possible answers quickly.

How to Solve Scrambled Words

Start by looking for short words first. Then look for common letter combinations such as:

TH
CH
SH
ST
ER
IN
ED
ING

You can also separate vowels and consonants to make the letters easier to arrange.

Use the Options Button

Enter your scrambled letters into the Unscramble Words tool, then open Options if you want to narrow your results.

You can filter by:

Word length
Starting letters
Ending letters
Letters the word must contain
A required letter
Common words only

Common Words Only

Common Words Only is turned on by default to keep the results cleaner and easier to read. You can turn it off if you want to see more rare word-game words.

Check Word Definitions

Click any word in the results to open a popup definition. The popup keeps you on the page so you can check meanings without losing your place.
